At a young 73, I'm working hard at staying young forever!

Back in the 80s, I was still a teenager – for goodness’ sake – and now there are only a few years left until I retire.
My most important realisation, I suppose, is: ‘Enjoy every single bloody day as much as you possibly can’. Come rain or shine, no matter how limited your time may be.

When I was 15 years old in 1985, I had cancer and survived the onslaught of the cancer, the chemotherapy, the surgery and watching the sad demise of the friends I made on the oncology unit. This song reminds me of those tough days in my life, all those souls that went to the light before they even reached the age of 16 and their devastated parents. Life is very short for some people. If you are lucky enough to reach middle age, grasp life, travel and see as much of the world as you can, enjoy different cultures, the sights, the sounds, the aromas, the stenches, the people, the languages...I have travelled much of the world and this was one of my ambitions realised. I SCUBA'd in the Caribbean, relaxed on pristine sands of Thailand, jet ski'd on the Adriatic of Croatia, ate pasta in Sorrento and Venice and enjoyed the crisp fresh air of the Swiss mountains....embrace life while you can, the time will soon pass. Bless you all and our families now in the light xx

My mom died 23 years ago when I was a child. I both love and miss her so much. She loved that song. Always, before Mother's Day I somehow commemorate my Mother with that song. <3 <3

I graduated high school in 1986. It is now May 2025 I sit and listen to this song as it takes my mind back to those days in high school. I’m almost 57 years old my parents, siblings, aunts and uncles are all gone. My wife passed away 3 years ago this month. The lyrics to this song mean more than I ever thought possible. It’s strange how one song can bring up so many memories and emotions in just a few short minutes.

This just might be the best song of all-time.

Released in 84. If you were born in that year you'll be 40. Time flies. I remember being young thinking it'll never end. My wife who was born in 84 died last year...never thought that would happen either, she loved this song. Crazy

I remember hearing this song at a party when I was 15 and thinking how sad it is to be old and remember you were young once. And today I am 42 years old ...

It is impossible for me to listen to this song without crying, not because of the lyrics of the song, but because of the time. My mind travels back in time and I remember what life was like then, everything was much purer and I could walk, today I can't anymore. Many people in my family that I loved are no longer here.
