Lyrics:
¿Cómo puede ser verdad?
[English translation: "How could it be true?"]
Last night I dreamt of San Pedro
Just like I'd never gone, I knew the song
A young girl with eyes like the desert
It all seems like yesterday, not far away
Tropical the island breeze
All of nature wild and free
This is where I long to be
La isla bonita
["The beautiful island"]
And when the samba played
The sun would set so high
Ring through my ears and sting my eyes
Your Spanish lullaby
I fell in love with San Pedro
Warm wind carried on the sea, he called to me
Te dijo te amo
["He told you, 'I love you.'"]
I prayed that the days would last
They went so fast
Tropical the island breeze
All of nature wild and free
This is where I long to be
La isla bonita
And when the samba played
The sun would set so high
Ring through my ears and sting my eyes
Your Spanish lullaby
I want to be where the sun warms the sky
When it's time for siesta you can watch them go by
Beautiful faces, no cares in this world
Where a girl loves a boy, and a boy loves a girl
Last night I dreamt of San Pedro
It all seems like yesterday, not far away
Tropical the island breeze
All of nature wild and free
This is where I long to be
La isla bonita
And when the samba played
The sun would set so high
Ring through my ears and sting my eyes
Your Spanish lullaby
Tropical the island breeze
All of nature wild and free
This is where I long to be
La isla bonita
And when the samba played
The sun would set so high
Ring through my ears and sting my eyes
Your Spanish lullaby

1I miss the 80s and 90s. Songs like this bring back so many good memories
7My dad wrote this song. I miss him so much. He's been gone since 05. Having his songs pop up in my feed makes me feel he and mom are still watching out for me.

5In Brazil, the song is still a hit today!!! 🇧🇷 🎉
19Indeed it makes sense why arguably she is the all time greatest Queen of Pop!!

That's Paulinho da Costa in the percussion. A legendary Brazilian percussionist who have appeared in multiple hit songs in the 1980s and 1990s.

455To me, Madonna is the Queen of Pop, just like Michael Jackson is the King of Pop, and Elvis is the King of Rock, as well Ozzy the King of Metal, and Willie Nelson the King of Country. The Greatest Musicians in Modern Day History.
6Listening to her these days makes me think back about those who said she couldn't sing. That's ridiculous. Who the hell did they like?

TIMELESS CLASSIC BUTTON
4👇
41 years ago...1985. Deep in the highlands of Papua New Guinea. I got back from school...and was told my 2nd older sister just got home from boarding school. I rushed into the house and Nellie was just inserting a music cassette into our old, worn stereo, cassette player. I hugged her, she hugged back smiled at me and pressed 'Play." "La Isla Bonita" came on!!! IT STUCK ETCHED into the mind of a 11 year old kid! After 41 years and still the sweetest music I have ever heard! It still gives me chills and brings me back to that period regarded as the best decade of Pop Music! Papa Don't Preach, Just like a Prayer...memories of an era of pure un-adulterated music! Thank you Madonna for being a part of my life!!!!!
