50 synchronized30:00 ive noticed this for so long ive always hated bronze but liked silver because my allies were so much better at playing the game but i couldnt put words to it other than allies are using their brains
0Went from Iron 4 to gold 1 hopefully plat soon in 2 years. Learned so much it’s very important to me that time on the rift got me to where I am.
01:19:35 Surprisngly i might actually do that. Hit emerald for the first ever time this season and am now E1 trying to hit diamond
0Love you guys! Appreciate the nuanced insight of each rank. You guys all had very reasonable points!
1I really like how much mindfulness you guys use, thinking about the compassionate side of league and logical side of mechanics.
0Viewing this after the initial post, but I completely agree with the takes on Diamond. I had made it to Diamond, felt like I needed to revamp my champion pool (support player) and ended up dropping down to Emerald. I realized I was trying to think/do too much in the game, and started to pickup more simple champions especially after the tank support buffs. Ended up landing on Alistar, immediately started shooting back up now almost to D1. I’ve played 40 ish games with him with a 72% wr, now I’ve built up habits from just playing a “simple” champion to where I don’t have to think about what to do as much and just do it on autopilot now. I couldn’t tell you the last time I played an objectively “bad” game on Alistar, and even in games he isn’t the best pick I just know how to navigate him well enough to where it doesn’t matter. Catching Rengars mid ult jump, not eating too much poke in lane, finding trading windows and even winning lanes I normally wouldn’t be able to. I used to play a lot of Rakan and Rell, two champions that are a lot more team dependent to succeed. Alistar is so self sufficient by comparison and can be used as a warden to peel or a hard engage/dive threat to set your team up. I know his Q/W cds by heart now, and know how long I can survive with ult to where I’ll make it to a second combo to close out fights before the enemy can try to turn it on us. But more than anything I just find him fun as can be to play, and that’s made climbing feel much more enjoyable than sweating on a champion trying to make sure I’m doing everything perfectly while trying to focus on extra information. I’m hoping to reach Master before the end of the split, but for the first time I feel confident I can play at that level.
0his diamond 4 playing teemo yesterday! i desire to be masters one day!
0"Its ok to let your teammates die" is honestly the one and only line I needed to hear because boy does my teammates dying around me sure gets me out of focus.
07:51 oh my teammates are often VERY challenged
2I think im on the point i need some coaching sessions to reassure my way of seeing the game
0It may be different for me since I originally played SMITE as my first moba and was diamond by the time I quit playing, but when I really dove into league i simply played a different champion and role every game. I kinda already knew based on my time in SMITE that I was a mid laner, but there is so much more champ variety as to what can be played in the role that I wasn't certain. Actually ended up maining top lane for my first split of ranked back in 2019 and made it to gold. Never really grinded enough games to progress past that point. Eventually made my way back to Mid and recently hit my peak of plat 4 but again that was after like 50-70 games in a season. I play so many other games, but I think what helped me initially was just getting familiar with what EVERY champion does and to do that just play every champ at least once. You WILL be able to tell if you don't like it. Generally unless you have played a moba or watched a ton of mobas then stay away from jungle unless it absolutely is what you want to do and you are certain.
1guys, good podcast and good rythm. I imagine your conversion rate is high
0Just watched 3 hours of Bbc podcast straight I love you guys
1I love playing support! You can initiate fights and keep your ADC alive. Utility is so cool to me. I'm iron 1 I guess I'll try mid or ADC
0This video is so real and I love every little bit of it.
0i like that they are willing to be disagreeable, its not just a circlejerk.
1Thier assessment of low elo ranks is pretty spot on. Wouldn't know about high elo...cuz you know. 😂
1This podcast room is absolutely badass
0Most frustrating is seeing 5 on the map fighting for drake on bot side. Meanwhile my toplaner pushing the wave into enemy turret and recalling without attacking the turret.
1The diamond experience is so true. I keep finding myself too scared in lane compared when i was emerald and started to try reinvent my self with other champs.
2Hey guys love your videos im a fizz OTP I just got to diamond 2 with a 64% wr in 150 games I’ve recently come to the realisation that after getting a 2/3 kill lead in my lane its much better to just farm and get towers than to constantly fight and give my bounty ever since applying this method I’ve climbed from platinum 2 to diamond 2 jn 12 days thanks for the tips
1Nathan please motivate us!!
0We gettin outta bronze with this one!! 🔥 🔥
0I have spend over a year climbing through Emerald in Mid and at the end I did instantly know when I played against a low Emerald player instead of a high Emerald one. Against players from E4 the lane is so chill. They wont pressure you the way an E1 player will. It was fascinating seeing such a real difference between those Ranks and it made it really clear why people struggle to climb out of Emerald
0I don’t really play much anymore but it’s funny yall brought up tempo missing from silver because that was the one concept from getting jungle coaching that I felt really helped me climb straight to emerald when I used to play ranked.
0Ngl, I usually cannot stay through an entire video of youtube this long. The effort put into this podcast is so high and the feedback has alot of depth, which made me easy to listen and stay captivated.
4Agree about low gold and high gold being two different ranks. Very easily identifiable difference too. Well said. I also noticed that most smurfs tend to be stomping in high gold, low plat or low plat/high plat
0Love the banners in the background! <3
0Love the motivational ending, Nathan
0man that emerald breakdown was so spot on
4Hearing the explanation about iron got me thinking. League is really fun...to learn. Like I watched that malphite clip in the Jynxi tournament and thought to myself, "I wish I could be brand new again." 😢😂 Where you and everyone else you're playing with is so ignorant to the game, that you just smash champions together. If you're legit in iron, enjoy it. It's truly awesome.
1Could you invite coach cupcake or another support coach more if at all possible? I enjoy the content and would love to see more of how support role would view it.
0I would love more league long form content like this! Could watch for hours!
1I always wish there was a support person on these podcasts. It feels like what a support has to do to climb is so different than the other roles.
20I climbed from iron to silver on Gwen and Seraphine top and support. I’m disabled and play with my feet, feels great
0I got to platinum for the very first time in over 10 years of playing, purely by following your guys’ advice. You guys fuckin rock, much love.
2i didnt learn how to climb out of gold i just learned what these good guys think gold is
21:33:57 Renekton... i changed my username to Scary Crocodile, have barely used him since, but he was the champion that changed emerald to master
1I came back to league after a 10 years iatus and was so surprised by how good high silver had become.
4As a Riven Player who fluctuates between like Emerald 2 & D4 I get in my own way alllll the time.
0Diamond felt pretty accurate. After reaching that goal, I took and am still pretty much on hiatus because after staring down at the mountain of what I accomplished, then looking up and seeing how much work that still needed to be done to reach masters, I decided I didn't really have the time nor could allocate more effort towards that goal. Emerald was super humbling, and it was an eye opening experience just to see how much I had to really work on.
0Jynxzi needs to hear the Iron part 100%, the knowledge in this video is amazing!
3Nathan. We need to have an honest authentic conversation about your intros recently. We viewers are deeply concerned about the lack of motivation
67I'm currently emerald 2. I'd like to add that emerald seems to be the rank of specialization. I will frequently get my ass handed to me in lane by somebody with far better laning and micro, but later in the game they run around like a headless chicken with no concept of what to do with their lead. Emerald seems like the peak of what being great at 1 single thing can get you.
1New studio look niceeee. They leveling up boiz!
0That solo q contract in the background: where can I see a legible copy?
0I absolutely love how cerebral your guys podcast is. You guys are the only podcast i’ve ever seen that really dives into the psychological aspect of any video game for that matter and it’s so refreshing. I played baseball for a good amount of my life and they say that baseball is 90% mental, and 50% physical. I feel the exact same way about league. Mechanics and just genuinely being gifted at games can only get you so far, and the rest is a combo of a mental battle with yourself and learning the actual nitty gritty macro of the game. My sister has her psych degree and I dabbled in advanced psych in school, and the way you guys talk about the game is exactly how I want to talk about it with others.
183It is such a complicated game and you guys do such an amazing job of making complex topics digestible for the average individual, and I really love how you are all so emotionally intelligent and aware enough that you can really see the game through every perspective of the different types of individuals that play the game.
Found you guys a little over a month ago and i’m absolutely hooked. Cheers to BBC!
There is a bell curve meme about duking skill shots where the iron player doesn’t duke and tanks everything, the emerald play dukes everything and the high chall doesn’t juke but it mind games the enemy into thinking they’ll juke and miss
0I do believe arams are a great tool for learning champions. Despite the lack of macro I t’s about fighting which is the most important thing
3This is such a brilliant video!
1Started playing league a few weeks ago (played like one game every 3 months as my girlfriend was always trying to get me into it) - starting in Iron and I’m kind of clueless 😂
But loving the learning curve of the game. Will come back to this as I hopefully climb!
