Lyrics:
You get a shiver in the dark
It’s raining in the park but meantime
South of the river you stop and you hold everything
A band is blowing Dixie double four time
You feel all right when you hear that music ring
You step inside but you don’t see too many faces
Coming in out of the rain to hear the jazz go down
Too much competition too many other places
But not too many horns can make that sound
Way on downsouth way on downsouth London town
You check out Guitar George he knows all the chords
Mind he’s strictly rhythm he doesn’t want to make it cry or sing
And an old guitar is all he can afford
When he gets up under the lights to play his thing
And Harry doesn’t mind if he doesn’t make the scene
He’s got a daytime job he’s doing alright
He can play honky tonk just like anything
Saving it up for Friday night
With the Sultans with the Sultans of Swing
And a crowd of young boys they’re fooling around in the corner
Drunk and dressed in their best brown baggies and their platform soles
They don’t give a damn about any trumpet playing band
It ain’t what they call rock and roll
And the Sultans played Creole
And then the man he steps right up to the microphone
And says at last just as the time bell rings
‘Thank you goodnight now it’s time to go home’
and he makes it fast with one more thing
‘We are the Sultans of Swing'

50 synchronizedNel 92 lo visto ,dall'emozione mon riuscivo stare calmo ,l'adrenalina era ai massimi livelli 😂😂😂😂❤❤❤❤
2This song is literally a psychedelic trip compiled into 10 minutes. The come up, the peak, the comedown. Ecstasy in audio form.
19This feels better than the studio version
3A timeless, legendary song that can never be worn out.
4How did i miss this. Hands down best live performance ever. Terry is a beast
3This is Rock 'n Roll Gold. I can say that because I remember when it was brand new. 😊
5This drummer freakin shreds it up !! Wooo hoooooo !!!
5I could listen 20x a times and not get tired of this!
4This is the song I'm taking to my grave
5THE BEST DRUM LINES OF ALL TIME
4The end is just breathtaking
The drummer.
4My boy got a day time job, he´s doing alright!
3This 10 minute version gives me tears and joy every single time. The song is two decades older than me, yet somehow it still speaks to my heart today, just as it did for people back then. I hope generations after us can feel the same thing when they hear it.🤘
5The drummer is also doing a great job
4My girlfriend swears I've seen this 1.5 million times. lol I've seen it it million and never get tired of it.
4В портовом городе Владивостоке ВСЕГДА БЫЛ И ЗВУЧАЛ
4Dire Straits. С ЛЮБОВЬЮ
When the live version is better than the studio version
5the final part was so epic
5Just my measly, tiny tribute to the best live performance and guitar solo of all time. Period.
12Just stopping by in August 28th, 2026! Next stop, Prince!! Later y'all! 🤘🎸
16Today is 23rd of July 2026, happy 43rd anniversary to this performance and the whole Alchemy performance
187its July 2026, anyone?
327Every one of them are masters of their instrument , one of the greatest all time live performances.
22Imagine if this hadn't been filmed. What a loss to humanity that would have been.
308Best of all time, nothing comes close. This is it. The greatest!
36This performance is still a masterpiece in 2026. It will be for the ages.
450These are the best 10 minutes of rock history
476Mark Knopfler is by far the greatest guitarist I've ever heard and I'm now 75. He beats Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, David Gilmour and everyone else. Rock on Mark! Cheers from an old Marine sergeant/Vietnam vet in eastern TN
468I'm 70 now children and this is what we called music back in the day. I, along with millions of my generation were truly blessed to have been touched by performances such as this. Thank you Dire Straits for making life so much more enjoyable as a result of your presence.
274This song well deserve 10:47 minutes of your daily attention.
433Arguably one of the best live music performances in history.
691That drummer deserves a gold medal.
1,005I’m convinced this is the best 10 mins of live music ever produced. Just pure brilliance
958I think we should all give credit to the drummer.
202I only hope Terry Williams gets to read the comments on here. Drummers often dont get the recognition they deserve, and his drumming on this song is out of this world!
2,333Man, I hope my neighbors like this song.
472That drummer is a BEAST
3,987I’m watching this for the first time. Spine chillingly good. That’s a band in perfect harmony. What a song, what a performance.
1,404Isn’t it wonderful that this has been watched 242 million times
3,895Best version..... And what a phenomenal job by that drummer
7,719Those young people witnessed probably the best live performance by any group ever, wish I had been there.
6,176That drummer is absolutely out of this world.
8,862Let’s be honest: this is not your first time here. And not your last either…
18,668Hats off to Dire Straits for one of the finest live performances in music history!
The drummer was also playing the guitar licks. Damn this is good
2,183This might be one of the best executed performances in rock history
1,880I've heard this song a thousand times, and I've never heard it like THIS. This has got to be one of the most extraordinary drum performances I've ever seen.
1,313My first ever concert. A mate and I stood in line for eight hours for tickets. Worth every minute!
651I love how Mark Knopfler makes it looks so easy and casual while he's absolutely shredding it. These boys just might have a future in the music business.
478Don't know what's more impressive:
5,836- The ease of delivering the best guitar solo in history by Mark Knopfler
- The one-of-a-kind drumming of Terry Williams
- The entire setup of the song... the build-up is crazy, the delivery amazing...
- The fun these lads have on stage whilst performing such a complex song
Goosebumps EVERY SINGLE TIME I listen to this... Whish I was there that day!
One of the most incredible drumming performances I've ever seen anywhere at any time. Truly magnificent.
