Hi Alex♡, I was just spending another one of my usual hours wandering around YouTube, looking for songs that could pull me away from the pain of reality, the one I always try to escape from. And just by seeing the title, Surrender, before even clicking on the video, I felt like maybe this song could be like the others — just something to take me a little further away from life.
And this was actually the very first song from your channel that I listened to. When I finally played it... just from the very first sounds, I understood that this song wasn’t going to take me away from myself or from life.
And when I listened to every single part of it all the way through, I came back into my own mind again — but this time, I couldn’t build any fake little scenario around it. I was only reminded that everything I’ve experienced in life wasn’t just the scary, frozen, painful part of it. It felt like I had only ever thought that the fault was in existence itself, in the world, and in people, because I was so afraid of its truths.
But really, I had just chosen the painful parts, because I thought that was the only choice — and that everything was always painful. But it was never only one choice. I just never really looked around me.
The people who were trying to make life easier for me were right there beside me all along. My mom and dad, who even in their most exhausted moments still try to lighten my burden in every possible way and help me with my work, no matter how hard or impossible it seems. And my little sister too... as the older sister, I can see that she carries more than she should. She worries about our parents, and at the same time, she eases the pain inside me too.
I didn’t see enough of all this pure love just because I was always afraid. I used to think I didn’t have enough of that complete surrender to love, but the choice to choose love was always there beside me — I just needed to surrender to it and finally break free from the chains of fear.
Because if I’m afraid of the real things in life, then it means I’ve always been afraid of facing myself too. It means I surrendered only to fear, not to love.
And now, it’s no longer just one choice — it’s two: love or fear. The line between love and fear has always been so thin for me, but now, in order to finally accept all the truths of life and the world and people, and also myself, my only choice is to surrender to love — even if fear still wants to be the only choice I make.
Just one look at my parents, my sister, and the people who matter to me reminds me again that I have no choice but to choose love.
Alex, from the bottom of my heart, thank you. You made me think — but this time, deeper — with a choice that can help me experience all the truths of this life. May your life be filled with love and health in every moment. I’m sure, without a doubt, that millions more lights will join your channel, and I will always wait for your new songs as long as I live, so I can once again remember that love is everything.
